The Carolinas have been known as vacation destinations for years, but there has always been one stand-out location among them: Myrtle Beach. Why is it that this city along South Carolina’s coast gets all of the attention? Here are just a few reasons:
Aside from the obvious draw of beaches and watersports, Myrtle Beach is known for its truly unique attractions. There are a number of family-friendly attractions in and around the city, including the Family Kingdom Amusement Park, which features bumper cars, rollercoasters, and even a zip line. Also nearby is the Family Kingdom Oceanfront Water Park with stunning views of the beach while you scream down waterslides or cruise the lazy river. The Skywheel is another cool attraction, as it is one of the largest Ferris wheels in the country. These are just the tip of the iceberg, however. Myrtle Beach is also famous for its entertaining boardwalk, casinos, parks, museums and a multitude of golf courses to keep golfers of any level happy.
The town gets its name from the 60 miles of coastline surrounding it, so finding a decent beach is a breeze. One such beach can be found at Pawley Island, which claims to be the oldest seaside resort in America. With a proud history and a laidback attitude, this town has a lot of character.
Plus, the beaches extend for 4 miles of natural beauty – it’s a perfect location for a restful and uncluttered day on the sand, as it rarely has big crowds. Litchfield Beach is in south Myrtle Beach and is another fine location for travelers looking for full-fledged relaxation.
At the other end of the spectrum, Huntington Beach State Park is full of activities for visitors in addition to the gorgeous beach located there. As a state park, it is home to an abundance of wildlife and draws in many families looking to camp, as well.
The city of Myrtle Beach itself rests along the coast and beaches can be reached from over 40 different places in the city, though most access them from the popular Ocean Boulevard area.
Myrtle Beach hotels are high on the list of reasons why the city has remained in the spotlight for so long. There are a variety of resorts and hotels that offer direct and convenient access to the beach, with beautiful views and loads of amenities. You can even find RV parks and campgrounds right in Myrtle Beach, if you’re looking to save some money. Part of what sets Myrtle Beach apart is its ability to cater to a number of different demographics — whether you’re bringing your family for the first time, returning in retirement or enjoying your honeymoon, the perfect accommodation is available for you, with just the right atmosphere.
With all there is to see and do, anyone can see why Myrtle Beach is such a popular attraction. Cast any doubts aside. This is the place to be!
