Living it up on Broadway

New York is a city on many a bucket list the world over. Who doesn’t dream of visiting the Big Apple and exploring at least some of its many world famous and iconic attractions? Think of the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Coney Island, Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, the list goes on. Some of the world’s biggest shopping malls and stores are also resident in NYC, so if you want to shop ‘til you drop, you can certainly do this, and then some!

One particular attraction and activity which everyone loves, and which everyone should do, is checking out at least one Broadway show.

You don’t have to be a serious theatre fan to want to visit Broadway, you can simply want to be entertained. From Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Kinky Boots, Jersey Boys, Wicked, and Matilda, to some more obscure and lesser budget shows, there is something to suit every single taste and budget also.

Making sure you get valid Broadway show tickets is a must do, because there are certainly many unscrupulous types out there, all vying for your custom, wanting to take your money in exchange for a “ticket”. The truth of the matter however is that if you don’t purchase your tickets from official places, you are going to end up with a piece of worthless paper, totally invalid, and considerably less money in your pocket. For this reason, always use the official Box Office, or a reputable website to purchase your tickets ahead of time.

There are many restaurants and hotels around the Theater District, so you can certainly make a night or even a couple of days out of your theatre visit. If you want to see more than one show, it might be a good idea to stay closer to the district, to stop you having to travel quite so far, and waste your time. Of course, you should also check out the many other attractions in and around the city, the ones we mentioned at the start of our chat.

The great thing about Broadway is that when you simply head to one show, you are participating in history. Shows have been playing in New York for decades, and this is a district of the city which is steeped in iconic history and memories, with some of the world’s best and most talented actors walking the boards.

Whether you are a theatre lover or not, Broadway is the way to go.
